Minnesota's New Car Seat Law, Effective August 1, 2024
The new law mandates that children under 2 years old be secured in rear-facing car seats. Children who are more than 4 years old but less than 8 years old, weigh more than 20 lbs but less than 65 lbs, and are less than 57 inches tall must ride in a properly secured booster seat or another federally approved child passenger restraint system. All children under 13 years of age must sit in the back seat.
